Finanțare de 630 de milioane de euro de la BEI pentru modernizarea căii ferate Braşov-Sighişoara

The European Investment Bank has signed a €630 million financing agreement with Romania for the modernization of the Brașov-Sighișoara railway. This project, costing €2.25 billion, aims to upgrade 113 kilometers of railway, enhancing passenger and freight transport capacity while reducing travel times. The modernized line will support speeds of up to 160 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight, benefiting around four million passengers annually. It will also improve safety and accessibility, contributing to economic growth and environmental sustainability by shifting transport from road to rail. The project aligns with EU transport corridors and aims to strengthen Romania's connections with the broader European rail network.
