Denmark is preparing its clergy for potential war by training parish priests to conduct military funerals, anticipating high casualty rates. Starting in January, military chaplains will instruct parish priests on managing large numbers of deaths, with estimates of 10 to 20 soldiers potentially killed daily in a major conflict. The Danish government has allocated 1.8 million kroner for this training, reflecting lessons learned from the Ukraine war. Currently, 95 military chaplains serve in the Danish Armed Forces, but they will require support from civilian priests in the event of mass casualties. Denmark is also increasing military recruitment in response to rising tensions.
