The Ministry of Finance has decided to maintain a 25% temporary reduction in the excise duty on standard diesel from September 16 to 30, 2026. This decision follows a biweekly evaluation under Law no. 162/2026, reflecting ongoing pressures in the fuel market. The reduction translates to a decrease of 701.07 lei per 1,000 liters, keeping the effective excise at 2,103.22 lei per 1,000 liters. The mechanism adjusts based on international price trends and aims to mitigate the impact on consumers and the economy. The ministry will continue to monitor fuel prices and international quotations.
