The film "I Matter" marks Alina Șerban as the first Roma female director to present a feature at the Venice Film Festival. It follows Rebeca, a young Roma woman preparing to leave her care center, hoping for her father's release from prison to find family stability. The film highlights her struggles to build an independent life after leaving the protection system. "I Matter" is a Romania-Germany-Belgium co-production, filmed in Romanian and Romani, and features a cast that includes Denisa Farcaș and Sorin Mihai. It won the Audience Award "Armani beauty" at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, showcasing the film's positive reception and the importance of representation in Romanian cinema.
