In the first eight months of 2026, the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) imposed fines totaling nearly 11 million lei following 671 control actions. These actions resulted in 1,026 contraventional sanctions, contributing entirely to the state budget. The inspections included 219 routine checks, 109 based on necessity, and 343 initiated from complaints. The majority of fines were in the electricity sector, amounting to 9.446 million lei, followed by natural gas and thermal energy. ANRE plans to continue monitoring and control actions throughout 2026 to ensure compliance and fair competition in the energy market.
