The European Investment Bank has signed a €630 million financing agreement with Romania for the modernization of the Brașov-Sighișoara railway, part of a €2.25 billion project. This initiative aims to upgrade 113 kilometers of double electrified railway, allowing passenger trains to reach speeds of 160 km/h and freight trains 120 km/h. The modernized line is expected to serve around 4 million passengers and transport approximately 6 million tons of goods annually. It will enhance Romania's connectivity with the European rail network and alleviate congestion on key transport corridors.
