BEI finanţează cu 630 de milioane de euro modernizarea căii ferate Braşov-Sighişoara
The European Investment Bank has signed a €630 million financing agreement with Romania for the modernization of the Brașov-Sighișoara railway. This project, costing €2.25 billion, aims to upgrade 113 kilometers of railway, enhancing capacity for both passenger and freight transport. The modernization will reduce travel times, improve reliability, and increase safety. It will also facilitate the movement of longer and heavier freight trains, while incorporating the European Rail Traffic Management System for better safety and interoperability. This investment is expected to support economic growth and improve connectivity within Romania and with the broader European rail network.
