Calea ferată Brașov-Sighișoara va fi complet electrificată / Trenurile de călători vor putea circula cu viteze de până la 160 km/h

Romania has signed a €630 million financing agreement with the European Investment Bank for the modernization of the Brașov-Sighișoara railway, part of a larger €2.25 billion project. This upgrade aims to enhance capacity for both passenger and freight transport, with an expected annual usage of four million passengers and six million tons of freight. Travel times will be reduced, and safety and reliability will improve, allowing passenger trains to reach speeds of 160 km/h and freight trains 120 km/h. The project is expected to be completed by 2029 and will strengthen Romania's connections to the European rail network.
