Cum arată Coiful de la Coțofenești după prima etapă a restaurării: 'Am fost șocat'
The Coțofenești helmet has been returned to the National Museum of History, where experts are shocked by its condition and estimate restoration will take nearly a year. Restorer Alexandru Dozsa noted significant concerns regarding the helmet's shape and details, but believes it can be restored to its original form. The first phase of restoration is complete, focusing on the damaged areas, particularly where the cheek guard was attached. The restoration will include color integration to ensure repairs are not visible. The helmet was stolen in January 2025 from a Dutch museum and recovered in April 2026, with three Dutch citizens convicted for the theft. The unique gold piece dates back to the 5th century BC and was originally discovered in 1913.
