The Romanian government has extended the 25% reduction in diesel excise tax until September 30, 2026, amid rising oil prices. Currently, the average price of standard diesel at the pump is 10.55 lei/l. This decision follows a biweekly evaluation under the crisis law, aiming to mitigate the impact of fuel costs on the economy and consumer prices. The reduction translates to a decrease of 701.07 lei per 1,000 liters. The government will continue to monitor international oil prices and domestic pump prices to adjust the excise tax accordingly.
