The National Bank of Romania is prepared to print euro banknotes when conditions are met, according to Governor Mugur Isărescu. A commemorative banknote celebrating Eugeniu Carada's 190th birthday was launched, featuring advanced security elements. The banknote, made of polymer, has a blue color and includes a transparent window and various graphic elements. It will be available for collectors, with a limited print run of 16,000 notes and 1,000 special sheets. Sales will begin on September 15, 2026, with prices set at 240 lei for the banknote and 840 lei for the special sheet.
