În ce oraș s-a inaugurat primul teatru din România? Mihai Eminescu a fost în el în calitate de sufleor • Newsweek România

The first theater in Romania was inaugurated in Sibiu in 1788, with Mihai Eminescu serving as a prompter. The building, originally transformed from the Gros Tower, still hosts artistic events today. The establishment of a permanent theater was prompted by performances from Christoph Seipp's troupe in 1782. The theater became a cultural hub, showcasing works by Shakespeare and Molière. Eminescu's involvement in 1868 marked the first performances in Romanian. The theater faced challenges, including two devastating fires, leading to its relocation in 1949. Today, it operates in the former Apollo cinema, hosting the International Theater Festival of Sibiu, one of Europe's largest.
