Police conducted ten searches in Brașov and Sibiu related to a public institution accused of illegally awarding construction contracts for a mortuary chapel. The investigations focus on a direct awarding procedure worth approximately 930,000 lei initiated in 2024, raising suspicions of legal violations regarding public finances and urban planning. Searches targeted the institution's headquarters, properties under its administration, and residences of current and former public officials, as well as firms linked to the project. Three public officials are expected to be questioned as witnesses following the searches.
