A report from the Court of Accounts reveals significant errors in pension calculations at the National House of Public Pensions (CNPP), affecting hundreds of thousands of pensions. Issues include continued payments to deceased individuals and incorrect survivor pensions granted to ineligible beneficiaries. The audit, conducted from August 2025 to February 2026, highlighted systemic failures, including a malfunctioning IT system that led to miscalculations for approximately 2.2 million people. The report estimates over 230 million lei in underpayments and over 71 million lei in overpayments due to incorrect point allocations. Additionally, the CNPP improperly continued payments after beneficiaries' deaths, totaling over 548,000 lei. The findings indicate widespread mismanagement and legal violations within the CNPP.
