Schengen suspendat între Italia și Spania încă 15 zile

Italy has extended the suspension of the Schengen agreement with Spain for an additional 15 days due to security concerns. The decision was made by Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi following a meeting of the Immigration and Border Security Analysis Committee. This measure comes after a significant influx of migrants into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta from Morocco, prompting Italy to initially suspend the agreement on July 31. In response, Spain has also implemented border controls for travelers from Italy, leading to diplomatic tensions within the EU. The situation in Ceuta is described as the most severe border incident in recent Spanish history, with over 60,000 migrants crossing illegally. The Spanish government has mobilized military and civil guard forces to manage the crisis, while thousands of migrants remain stranded, including many unaccompanied minors.
