Zelenski impune sancțiuni împotriva unei foste colaboratoare din primii ani de mandat
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has imposed sanctions on his former press secretary, Iulia Mendel, accusing her of spreading Russian propaganda. Mendel, who served from 2019 to 2021, claims the sanctions are unconstitutional and argues they target those advocating for peace. She has previously criticized Zelensky's administration and alleged that Ukraine was willing to concede the Donbas region during peace talks with Russia in 2022. The presidential office denied her claims about the negotiations. The sanctions, effective for ten years, include asset freezes and trade restrictions, and also affect other individuals, including Russians. This marks a rare use of sanctions against a former presidential staff member.
