1.3 million vaccinated against the flu in the first weeks

Since September 30, over 1.3 million people have been vaccinated against the flu in Portugal, with nearly 700,000 receiving their shots at participating pharmacies. The vaccination campaign, which runs until the end of March, has seen the highest uptake among individuals aged 60 and older, totaling over 1.1 million vaccinations. The National Health Service (SNS) has procured approximately 2.3 million standard doses and 369,000 high-dose vaccines for this season. In contrast, only about 600,000 people have received the COVID-19 booster shot, indicating a significantly lower uptake compared to the flu vaccine. The decentralized vaccination model continues, with pharmacies playing a crucial role in the campaign.
