1.5 years in prison for serious group assault of 17-year-old boy in Haarlem
Two suspects, Adam el B. and Fouad B., received 18-month prison sentences for their involvement in the violent assault of a 17-year-old boy, which was filmed and shared online. They must also pay over €41,000 in damages and are prohibited from contacting the victim. The court noted the assault posed a risk of death to the victim, classifying it as attempted manslaughter. The incident caused significant unrest, leading to emergency orders and the closure of five schools. Two other suspects were not prosecuted due to unequal treatment, raising questions about the prosecution's decisions. A retaliatory incident followed the assault, involving a victim threatened with a gun, with those suspects set to face trial later.
