The government would help fill vacant medical practices with a fund increased to 1.75 billion forints.
The Hungarian government plans to increase the budget for filling vacant medical practices to 1.75 billion HUF by 2027. Currently, over a thousand districts lack a permanent doctor, affecting 1.4 million people who rely on temporary replacements. This situation poses significant challenges, especially for the elderly. The government aims to support doctors' settlement through state aid, service apartments, and local incentives. They acknowledge that filling long-empty practices will take time but are establishing a financial foundation as part of a four-year program. Additionally, a comprehensive salary adjustment for non-medical healthcare workers is planned, impacting 123,000 employees with an annual budget of 192 billion HUF.
