100 thousand jobs in Poland at risk. All because of China

Recent data shows a significant increase in household appliance imports from China to the EU, rising by 12.1% to over 26.5 million units. In contrast, Polish exports decreased by 0.8% to 9.1 million units, with Poland's market share dropping to 13.2%. The value of imports from China also surged by 12.9%, exceeding 3.2 billion euros, while Polish imports fell by 6% to just over 2 billion euros. The Polish appliance industry, employing 100,000 people across 30 factories, is urging EU authorities to create fair competition rules. The European Commission's proposed CBAM regulation aims to address CO2 emission costs but has faced delays, with calls to include more appliance categories in the system. However, even with these changes, the impact on Chinese pricing may be minimal.
