The Competition Authority imposed a fine of 123 million on Aldi

The Hungarian Competition Authority fined Aldi 123 million HUF for misleading advertising claims about having the "widest selection" and "best deals." The investigation began in summer 2025 after Aldi promoted these claims based on a subjective public vote. The GVH found that Aldi's assertions could mislead consumers into believing they offered better deals than competitors, which was not substantiated by objective data. Aldi ceased using the disputed claims following the investigation.
