18 million for water and sanitation in Ribatejo in 2027

Águas do Ribatejo plans to invest approximately 18 million euros in 2027 for the rehabilitation and strengthening of water supply and sanitation networks in its municipalities. The investment will focus on upgrading reservoirs, replacing network sections, and expanding service coverage. Key projects include enhancing the water supply system in Benavente and surrounding areas to meet growing housing and economic demands. The company aims to improve resilience against extreme weather and comply with new EU wastewater treatment standards. About 40% of the funding will come from EU sources, deemed crucial for less populated areas. A 2.5% tariff increase is also anticipated, remaining below national averages, while efforts to reduce unbilled water losses are underway.
