2 years in prison for serious assault on Haarlemmer (17) in Beverwijk

Two men from Heemskerk and Beverwijk were sentenced to two years in prison for severely assaulting a 17-year-old boy from Haarlem. A third suspect was acquitted. The court found that the two men, aged 22 and 24, committed attempted manslaughter and must pay over €41,000 in damages. The assault occurred on September 6 last year, stemming from a conflict between rival youth groups. The victim was surrounded by about twenty boys armed with machetes and baseball bats, leading to severe injuries. The incident was filmed and circulated on social media, causing unrest in the region, prompting school closures and police measures.
