244 World War II explosives found near Üllői Road
A construction site in the XVIII district of Budapest uncovered 244 World War II explosive devices, including various types from Soviet, German, Hungarian, and American origins. The discovery included mortar shells, hand grenades, and significant amounts of ammunition remnants. The removal process was complicated due to the devices being previously burned together, making separation difficult. The operation lasted from 8 AM to 2:30 PM, with soldiers covering considerable distances during the task. This site had previously seen the disposal of two Soviet bombs and additional explosive devices earlier in October.
