24 times more powerful than its predecessor, South Korea's new supercomputer
South Korea's sixth supercomputer, Hangang, has been unveiled, boasting a performance of 614.7 petaflops. It is expected to rank among the top ten in the world. Hangang replaces the Nurion supercomputer, which contributed to numerous research projects over eight years. The deployment faced delays due to rising GPU prices amid the AI boom. The system features 8496 NVIDIA GH200 chips and has a storage capacity of 205 petabytes. It will support various research initiatives, allocating resources for R&D, national strategy, and industrial innovation.
