4 years in prison demanded for man who wanted to carry out an attack on intended asylum center in Doetinchem

The Public Prosecution Service has demanded a four-year prison sentence, one of which is conditional, for a man from Doetinchem accused of planning an attack on a proposed asylum seekers' center. The police intervened last December following a report of vandalism and trespassing at the suspect's ex-partner's home. The suspect fled but was later arrested at a friend's house. His ex-girlfriend claimed he was paid to place explosives at the future center. Police found an explosive device consisting of four connected firecrackers with a fuse. The suspect had previously taken photos of the center's location and attended protests against its establishment. The prosecution argues he intended to instill fear among asylum seekers and pressure local authorities not to house them. The court's ruling is expected in two weeks.
