50 years of Euregio Meuse-Rhine: 270 guests celebrate half a century of cross-border cooperation in Alden Biesen
Today, around 270 guests gather at Alden Biesen to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine (EMR), which has evolved from a small-scale collaboration in emergency aid and police into a structured network focusing on education, healthcare, safety, and scientific projects. The EMR connects Belgian provinces Limburg and Liège, the German-speaking Community in Belgium, Dutch Limburg, and the German region of Aachen. EMR chairman Jos Lantmeeters emphasizes the importance of cross-border cooperation in addressing common issues. The network has proven beneficial in various areas, including crisis response and the preparation for the Einstein Telescope project. The event serves as both a celebration and an opportunity for decision-makers and scientists to network and discuss future collaborations.
