Microsoft would part ways with 60 thousand employees

Microsoft plans to offer severance packages to around 60,000 employees, primarily in the US, Canada, UK, and India. This initiative targets those in vice president roles or lower, providing support for those considering leaving the company. The move aims to adjust workforce needs amid significant investments in artificial intelligence. Affected departments include Xbox, Windows, and Copilot, while marketing and sales staff are excluded. This follows a previous voluntary retirement program for older employees, where about 30% accepted the offer.
