The rope broke: Rui Borges leaves, Paulo Fonseca is the successor

After a series of disappointing results, Rui Borges is set to leave Sporting, with Paulo Fonseca as his successor. The decision follows a loss to Ac. Viseu, which left the team significantly behind the league leaders. Despite a brief uplift from a recent victory against Casa Pia, Borges was aware of his precarious position. The club aimed to find a long-term replacement rather than a temporary fix, and Fonseca emerged as a favorable candidate. The agreement with Lyon for Borges's departure has now been finalized, paving the way for Fonseca's introduction at Alvalade.
