According to Fitch Ratings, there is a chance that Hungary will meet the conditions for joining the eurozone by 2030.
Fitch Ratings suggests Hungary may meet Eurozone accession criteria by 2030, supported by budget plans aiming to reduce the deficit significantly. The government plans to lower the deficit from 7.5% to 4.9% of GDP by 2027, with further reductions expected. Fitch notes that while there are execution risks, favorable financing conditions could aid budget consolidation. The Hungarian economy is projected to grow, with expectations of increased investment and consumption due to EU fund disbursements. Other analysts also foresee Hungary potentially joining the Eurozone in the early 2030s, despite short-term challenges from drought and geopolitical shocks.
