In Ghent, design is reclaiming its place at the heart of the city
The Design Museum in Ghent, Belgium, reopened on October 3 after four years of renovations, featuring a new six-story wing designed by Carmody Groarke and ATAMA. This expansion provides stunning views of the city and aims to create a socially relevant space that engages with contemporary societal issues. Outgoing director Katrien Laporte emphasized the museum's role in shaping discussions on topics like environmental preservation and technology's impact on humanity. The inaugural exhibition, "Public Matter(s): Design and Democracy," runs until April 11, 2027, highlighting the importance of public opinion in decision-making.
