The government is taking action; family doctors with young children or those living with disabilities may receive an exemption from on-call duty.
The government plans to amend regulations for family doctors, allowing exemptions from on-call duties for pregnant doctors, those with young children, or those caring for sick children. Health Ministry official Krisztina Porpáczy announced that doctors with at least 50% disability can also apply for exemption. The changes aim to address previous protests from doctors regarding mandatory on-call duties introduced four years ago. The National Ambulance Service now organizes these duties, but many doctors refused to sign contracts, facing penalties. A recent court ruling deemed the unilateral modification of a doctor's license illegal, highlighting ongoing tensions in the healthcare system.
