The population welcomes it, but companies are wary of the wealth tax.

A recent GKI survey reveals that 85% of Hungarians support the introduction of a wealth tax, with significant backing across various income levels. Support is notably high among those earning between 500,000 and 1 million HUF, at 91%. Educational attainment influences opinions, with 89% of graduates in favor compared to 78% of those with vocational training. Younger individuals show more skepticism, with only 75% support among 18-29 year-olds. On the corporate side, 51% of businesses do not expect operational impacts from the tax, while 18% do. Concerns include potential declines in profitability and domestic investments. The GKI analyst cautions that these are preliminary expectations rather than firm decisions.
