In Los Angeles, the scourge of copper cable theft is making a fortune for a small business from Agen
Hocine Benaoum, head of Fonroche Lighting's US branch, initially faced challenges selling solar streetlights in the US. His early projects included dog parks and small military sites. However, starting in 2023, the rise in copper cable thefts became a significant selling point for his products. In Los Angeles, around 30,000 of the 200,000 streetlights are out of service, largely due to these thefts, which account for 40% of issues. The city struggles with maintenance and repair delays, taking an average of twelve months to replace a faulty light.
