Hungarian Public Road is protecting its workers and also filling the pockets of the CEO's classmates

Hungarian road management company Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. procured plastic weed control discs at nearly 2900 HUF each, significantly higher than the market price of 800-900 HUF. The supplier, Villa Deco Építő Kft., is linked to the company's CEO through high school connections. The procurement aimed to enhance safety for workers clearing weeds near roads, where accidents have occurred. Despite a lower-cost alternative available, the company opted for the more expensive supplier, resulting in substantial profits for Villa Deco. In a subsequent tender, Villa Deco participated again, alongside other companies with personal ties to the supplier.
