Hungarians are more distrustful of new foods than Europeans.

A survey reveals that 51% of EU citizens believe food innovation can address agricultural challenges, but many feel uninformed about new technologies. In Hungary, 52% view innovative foods negatively, with 69% lacking sufficient knowledge about them. Despite this, 70% have heard of such products. Acceptance of drought-resistant crops is higher in Hungary (58%) than the EU average (50%). Concerns about health impacts and lack of transparency are prevalent, with 84% supporting clear labeling. While 77% see innovation as beneficial for research and climate challenges, willingness to purchase new products remains low, with only 38% open to buying lab-grown alternatives if safety standards are met.
