The Patriots of Europe faction turned to the European Commission citing the protection of democratic rights in Hungary.

The Fidesz-KDNP group in the European Parliament announced that patriotic representatives from several countries have submitted a written question to the European Commission regarding the Hungarian government's authoritarian measures. They demand clarity on how long the EU will remain unresponsive to actions undermining democratic rights and opposition participation. The representatives claim that constitutional amendments have barred many opposition MPs from elections and that illegal actions have targeted the largest opposition party. They emphasize that the protection of democratic rights in Hungary is a shared European responsibility and criticize any double standards in the EU's response to such issues. The group also recently appointed Gál Kinga as co-leader of their faction.
