"The regime change in Hungary also gave us strength" – the economist who could be Serbia's next prime minister awaits the election results with great optimism.

Dejan Šoškić, former governor of the Serbian National Bank, expressed optimism about the opposition's chances in the elections, highlighting record voter turnout. He noted that the opposition, represented by the Student List, emphasizes community strength rather than individual candidates. Šoškić believes that the recent electoral defeat of Viktor Orbán in Hungary has inspired the Serbian opposition. He acknowledged similarities between the political climates in Serbia and Hungary but stated that Serbia's regime is harsher. He stressed the importance of respecting constitutional order after the elections and outlined the need for the new government to assess the country's financial situation thoroughly. Šoškić also emphasized the necessity for Serbia to develop its institutions and values to advance towards EU membership.
