The abolition of the mandatory chamber contribution is before Parliament

The Hungarian government has proposed a bill to abolish the mandatory chamber contribution, introduced by Minister István Kapitány. If approved, the payment obligation will cease from January 1, 2027, reducing financial and administrative burdens for businesses. Prime Minister Péter Magyar noted that this change would benefit around 900,000 entrepreneurs. The president of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Elek Nagy, supports the abolition for individual entrepreneurs not seeking significant growth. He mentioned that while the immediate impact on the chamber's operations is minimal, the long-term sustainability of the current system is questionable. The government is in discussions regarding the chamber's restructuring, which Nagy does not view as a form of guardianship.
