Porsche says there is no demand for electric supercars
Porsche introduced the Mission X concept car in 2023 as a potential successor to the 918 Spyder, but it failed to generate excitement amid the launch of gasoline rivals like the Ferrari F80. Since then, little has been heard about the Mission X, while the newly unveiled Mission S features a mid-mounted gasoline engine instead of electric power. CEO Michael Leiters stated that Porsche does not plan to produce a fully electric supercar due to a lack of market demand. The Mission S is positioned above the iconic 911, with specifications still unclear, but it may include a standard gasoline engine and hybrid options. Additionally, a new generation of the 718 Boxster and Cayman is in development, initially intended to be electric but now also includes gasoline versions.
