The Serbian central bank revoked the operating license of Alta Bank, owned by a businessman linked to former President Aleksandar Vucic's party. This decision was made due to the bank's deteriorating financial situation, which posed risks to depositors. The bank has halted card services and transactions, with branches currently closed. Customers will begin receiving insured deposits under state supervision, with coverage up to €50,000. Alta Bank is owned by Davor Macura, whose company has been associated with favorable relations with the outgoing government, securing several state contracts.
