Tesla and SpaceX have taken the first step towards unification
Elon Musk suggested merging SpaceX and Tesla, with both companies forming committees to discuss the possibility. Following the announcement, shares of both companies rose significantly. Musk indicated that SpaceX recently achieved profitability for the first time since going public and projected substantial revenue growth by 2027 due to increased demand for data center capacities driven by AI. He emphasized that while he supports the merger, discussions are still in early stages and dependent on shareholder approval. Musk owns nearly 20% of Tesla and just under half of SpaceX, and analysts believe a merger could enhance his control over the combined entity.
