The Tisza is abolishing the current system of personal income tax benefits; we calculated how much tax credit is due to whom in forints.
Starting January 1, 2027, Hungary will overhaul its income tax benefit system, pending parliamentary approval. The current tax benefits, such as family allowances, will transition from reducing taxable income to direct tax credits. This change is necessary due to the introduction of a tax credit that reduces the amount of tax owed. The order of applying benefits will prioritize the new tax credit, followed by other allowances. The tax credit will be calculated as 6% of the minimum wage, ensuring a monthly benefit of around 20,000 HUF for eligible individuals. The changes aim to stimulate economic growth through increased consumer spending and investments, while maintaining some existing benefits for families with children.
