Civil organizations urge the repeal of the still valid heart sound regulation

Civil organizations are urging the repeal of the fetal heartbeat regulation in Hungary, citing a lack of progress in reproductive health rights. They presented a detailed policy recommendation to the health ministry, advocating for three key changes: abolishing the heartbeat regulation, removing the prescription requirement for emergency contraceptives, and introducing medical abortion. The current regulation is seen as emotionally burdensome for women and medically unjustified. Access to emergency contraceptives remains dependent on doctors, leading to issues like prescription denial. The organizations emphasize the need for women to have informed choices regarding their reproductive health and have called for concrete measures to ensure their health autonomy and dignity.
