The only call from Duarte Lima to the Brazilian police

One month after Rosalina Ribeiro's funeral, police investigating her murder focused on Domingos Duarte Lima, her lawyer and the last known person to see her alive. Despite multiple attempts to contact him, Lima insisted on responding to questions via email. Eventually, he agreed to a phone call, which took place on January 22, 2010. During the hour-long conversation, Lima maintained that he could not disclose details of their meeting due to professional secrecy, even after Ribeiro's death. He refused to answer several questions, including why he traveled to Belo Horizonte instead of Rio de Janeiro. The police noted inconsistencies in his statements, particularly regarding Ribeiro's movements and the contents of a bag she carried. Investigators suspect Lima is not being truthful, especially since Ribeiro's phones were found at her apartment after her death, contradicting his claims about her communication with another woman.
