Aalst approves new licensing policy for traders, fraudulent traders are not welcome
The city of Aalst has approved a new licensing policy targeting barbers, night shops, and mini-markets to combat money laundering and illegal sales. Mayor Christoph D'Haese emphasizes the need to protect legitimate businesses, citing concerns over establishments misrepresenting their activities. The policy includes a notification requirement for all commercial activities in publicly accessible venues and a licensing system specifically for the three sectors mentioned. New night shops will be restricted to urban areas and must be at least 600 meters from existing ones. The licensing will take effect on February 1, 2027, while the notification requirement starts on May 1, 2027.
