Construction of the castle garden Commanderij Gruitrode has started: "Restoring open character"

The renovation of the castle garden at the Commanderij of Gruitrode has begun, aiming to restore its original open character. Landscape architect Pieter Daenen designed the garden, drawing inspiration from five typical regional landscapes. The garden, previously overgrown, will become accessible with paths and play areas for children. Valuable trees will be preserved, and the moat will be restored and enlarged for better water management. This site will serve as the northern gateway to the Hoge Kempen National Park, welcoming visitors for various outdoor activities. The project costs over 900,000 euros and is expected to take about five months.
