Number of women in top positions lags behind: 'Only in 2044 will a third be female'
Mijntje Lückerath-Rovers reflects on the slow progress of female representation in top corporate positions in the Netherlands, despite a rise in female commissioners. The Female Board Index shows only 18% of executive roles are held by women, while over a third of supervisory roles are occupied by women due to legal quotas. Although there has been an increase in companies with gender-balanced boards, the pace of change for executive roles remains disappointing. State Secretary Judith Tielen acknowledges the slow growth and plans to evaluate the legal quota next year, aiming to engage with companies to improve female representation in leadership.
