Abp Galbas: The Church believes in hell. "It is a terrible possibility of human freedom"
On November 2, Archbishop Galbas led a procession at the Warsaw Cathedral, honoring deceased archbishops, presidents, and cultural figures. The service included Mozart's "Requiem" performed by the Polish Royal Opera Choir and Orchestra. In his homily, Galbas emphasized the Church's belief in hell as a consequence of human freedom, not a divine punishment. He described hell as ultimate loneliness, resulting from one's rejection of God. The Archbishop stated that the Church cannot guarantee salvation for all but encourages hope for everyone. He urged against wishing condemnation upon anyone and highlighted the importance of compassion in relationships. The procession included prayers at four stations, commemorating fallen soldiers and notable figures in Polish history, concluding with a prayer at Cardinal Glemp's grave.
