Porto camp denounces plainclothes police
The Acampada do Porto movement reported police in plain clothes identifying and detaining protesters at Praça D. João I. Lawyer Ricardo Salazar stated that individuals were taken to the police station for identification through photographs. He expressed concerns about potential political persecution reminiscent of past authoritarian regimes. The movement, which began on October 10, demands changes to housing laws, including halting evictions and increasing public housing. Recent police interventions resulted in injuries and arrests during protests for housing rights.
